Nicolas Obando is a Fixed Equipment Engineer for ABSG Consulting. He has over 9 years of experience in fixed equipment engineering, fitness-for-service, risk based inspections and NDT evaluations, auditing, and inspecting of process equipment within petrochemical and production industries. His responsibilities include: developing equipment specifications and records, equipment design and re-rate calculations, fitness for service assessments, risk based inspections, and remaining life calculations.
Nicolas has worked with clients such as Exxon, Kinder Morgan, Marathon, El Dorado Chemical, Big West Oil, and Praxair to improve their asset reliability, mechanical integrity, process safety management, and operational inspection practices. Mr. Obando also has extensive experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to perform Level 3 fitness-for-service assessments on damaged pressure vessels, pipes and tanks in accordance with API 579.
