Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Program

Risk-Based Inspection Program Implementation

Our Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Program combines risk assessment services with risk management techniques for all inspection activities, including data gathering, risk analysis, inspection planning, and documentation. We help clients develop more effective inspection plans for areas of highest risk to prevent undesirable events.

Сòòò½ÊÓƵ's RBI Program is a risk assessment and management process focusing on the loss of containment initiated by various material deterioration and degradation mechanisms that can be managed and controlled through equipment and structure inspection.

Why ABS for RBI Implementation?

Our RBI services are based on RAGAGEPs (recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices) and industry best practices for asset integrity management systems and comply with all applicable governing regulations and industry codes/standards. We offer all of the necessary services to design and build robust RBI programs that include:

  • Data gathering, management, and analysis
  • Damage mechanism assessments that consider all credible corrosion mechanisms
  • Risk assessments, including probability and consequence of failure
  • Risk-driven and optimized inspection strategies to best utilize resources
  • Identification of critical areas for inspection and testing based on the susceptible damage mechanisms
  • RBI reassessments (evergreening) for all assets after each inspection activity and any process or operational changes

Additionally, we help our clients develop written methodology documents (management system and technical instruction documents) to implement and perform RBI assessments and establish an effective and consistent program.

Static/Fixed Equipment

Addressing Pressure Vessels, Storage Tanks, Piping, and Pressure Relieve Devices

Our team of experts evaluates the probability of failure (POF) and consequences of failure (COF) for loss of containment to help improve asset reliability and potentially reduce asset life cycle costs. We perform a thorough risk assessment and develop customized inspection and testing plans to prioritize and target the areas of highest risk. This approach helps prevent equipment failures, reduce downtime and ultimately enhances the overall safety and reliability of the process.

Structural System

Addressing Hull, Mooring, Topside Structures, and Riser Structures

When it comes to assessing the performance of your assets, understanding their structural performance is key. By combining the results of global strength and fatigue analyses with time-varying structural reliability methods, you can gain a more accurate and probabilistic forecast of the asset's condition. This can also help to confirm the adequacy of your inspection plan.

It's also important to identify structural risks and the factors that drive them, as well as the existing safeguards in place to prevent them. By doing so, we can determine the best preventative measures to take and monitor their effectiveness over time.
