April 3, 2019

AIChE awarded Arendt the Norton H. Walton/Russell L. Miller Award in New Orleans during the 2019 AIChE Spring Global Congress on Process Safety.

(Houston) – Steve Arendt, Vice President of the Global Oil, Gas and Chemical division at Сòòò½ÊÓƵ, was awarded the Norton H. Walton/Russell L. Miller Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) at the 2019 Spring Meeting and 15th Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS) in New Orleans during a dinner ceremony.

Sponsored by the Safety and Health division of AIChE, the Norton H. Walton/Russell L. Miller Award recognizes outstanding achievements in and contributions to chemical engineering in the fields of loss prevention, safety and health.

Steve Arendt

"This is a huge honor for me and a reminder of all the people who have influenced and coached me along my 40-plus-year career in process safety," Arendt says of his milestone achievement. "It is also a reminder that we must continue to give back to the profession by mentoring the current generation of engineers and process safety 'barrier guardians,' to encourage them with all the wisdom we have acquired."

Arendt has more than four decades of leadership in process safety management (PSM), risk management and incident investigations for both the onshore and offshore market sectors. He has worked alongside industry, labor, government and stakeholder groups in the development of OSHA and EPA regulations. Arendt has also served in various capacities on AIChE, Center for Chemical Process Safety, ACC/CMA, American Petroleum Institute and Center for Offshore Safety committees and led the technical reviews for the BP Baker Panel evaluation of PSM effectiveness, process safety culture and corporate oversight of BP's U.S. refineries. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Tennessee and holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Сòòò½ÊÓƵ is exhibiting at booth 313 at the 2019 AIChE GCPS event taking place this week, March 31-April 4, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
