ABS Quality Evaluations Certifies Leela Greenship Recycling Pvt. Ltd to ISO 30000 Standard in India
This achievement marks ABS QE's first ISO 30000 ship recycling certification.
ABS Quality Evaluations Inc. (ABS QE) has issued its first ISO 30000:2009 certificate (Ship Recycling Management Systems) to in India. In addition to the ISO 30000 ship recycling certification, ABS QE has also certified the company to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System standards.
"We are proud to announce that one (Leela Greenship Recycling Pvt. Ltd) of our ship recycling yards has been certified to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 30000 standards from ABS QE," the client said in a statement. "These certifications have proven our continual commitment to quality, health, safety and environment. Being certified by a reputable certification body, who is affiliated with ABS, a leading global provider of classification services, gives us a competitive advantage. These certifications will help us to ensure sustainable and environmentally sound recycling of ships."
India currently maintains approximately a 30% market share in total recycled tonnage in the world. According to estimates, this share is expected to double in the coming years. India also is home to one of the largest ship-breaking facilities in the world, with over 150 yards along its coast. With this certification, ABS QE has entered the ship recycling certification business and is well positioned to provide management system certification services for ship recycling.
