Remote PSM: Facility Siting at a Distance

April 30, 2020 | Starts at 10:00 am CDT

Facility Siting Done At A Distance

Organizations are adapting to new working conditions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this webinar, our Facility Siting team within the Extreme Loads and Structural Risk division at Сòòò½ÊÓƵ will discuss how to perform a virtual facility siting study to ensure that your facility siting activities won't be delayed. Hear an overview of the virtual technologies available to assist you in carrying out remote facility siting work.

For additional topics in this series, register for our webinar Keeping Your PSM Program Moving During COVID-19.

What We Cover

  • Virtual technologies and remote capabilities for your facility siting studies
  • How to conduct remote work for mitigation planning, facility siting dashboard development, training, flare and gas detector studies, third-party building design reviews and more

Presenters

Greg Knight

Greg Knight has over 18 years' experience performing hazards assessments using consequence and risk-based methodologies. As a mechanical engineer in the Extreme Loads and Structural Risk division at Сòòò½ÊÓƵ, he has performed well over 200 facility siting studies in support of the OSHA PSM requirements. He has deep experience performing consequence modeling for explosion, fire and toxic hazards using tools such as FLACS, PHAST and FACET3D. Greg routinely uses advanced numerical modeling (CFD) to assess explosion (external and internal) and fire consequences, and he has performed multiple quantitative risk assessments (QRA) of onshore refinery and chemical facilities. Greg is the lead developer of FACET3D, an Сòòò½ÊÓƵ tool for consequence and risk-based assessments. He is also a principal instructor for multiple short courses dedicated to understanding explosion analysis techniques, including . He also participates on the API 752/753/756 committee.

Chris LeBoeuf, P.E.

Chris LeBoeuf is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states with 19 years of professional experience as a structural engineering consultant in the Extreme Loads and Structural Risk division. Chris specializes in dynamic analysis and design of structures and equipment to mitigate hazards from extreme loading events, such as vapor cloud explosions, jet fires and bursting pressure vessels. Chris works extensively with industry explosion safety criteria documents including NFPA 68, ASCE "Design of Blast Resistant Buildings in Petro-Chemical Facilities," CCPS and AIChE's Guidelines for Evaluating the Characteristics of Vapor Cloud Explosions, Flash Fires and BLEVEs, and similar criteria documents. He has performed more than 75 site surveys to collect data on over 1,000 buildings. Chris is a principal instructor for multiple short courses dedicated to understanding explosion effects and dynamic structural analysis, including . He also participates on the API 752/753/756 committee.
